• Resume Content: Professional summaries, work experience, skills, and education information you enter or upload.
• Chat Messages: Conversations with the AI career coach.
• Job Tracker Data: Companies, roles, application statuses, notes, and contacts you save.
• Usage Data: Basic request metadata for rate limiting (IP-based, not stored persistently).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide AI-powered career coaching and resume suggestions.
• To generate ATS compatibility scores and improvement recommendations.
• To generate mock interview questions and feedback.
• To generate cover letters tailored to your job applications.
• To persist your data across sessions (authenticated users only).

4. Third-Party Data Processing (OpenAI)

Important: To provide AI features, your resume content, chat messages, and interview answers are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. This means your data is transmitted to OpenAI's servers.

• Data sent via the OpenAI API is not used to train OpenAI's models, per OpenAI's API data usage policy.
• We send only the minimum data necessary to generate each response.
• We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.

5. Data Storage and Security

User data is stored in Supabase with row-level security (RLS), ensuring each user can only access their own data. Data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Rectify inaccurate personal data.
• Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Port your data to another service.

If you are a student, your educational records may be protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). You are responsible for ensuring you do not upload or share educational records that your institution has not authorized for disclosure. CareerAutoPilot is not an educational institution and does not manage FERPA-protected records.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

CareerAutoPilot AI is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of CareerAutoPilot after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
